Sansho ramen in Kurama - Kishimoto Shoten

叡山電鉄 鞍馬駅前の岸本商店

Kishimoto Shoten stands in front of Kurama Station on the Eizan Railway. It is run by a classmate of mine from primary school.

The shopfront of Kishimoto Shoten

It is a wooden building with a nostalgic Showa-era feel, a space where time seems to have stopped.
It looks like a shop out of the film series Otoko wa Tsurai yo, and it has not changed since I was a child.

Inside Kishimoto Shoten

It is a kinome-ni shop, but you can eat here too.

My own favourite is the sansho ramen. It is very good.
It gets under your skin, and I find myself going back for it.

If you come to Kurama, do try it.
